Honor Launches Magic V Flip: Revolutionizing Smartphone Market

Honor, a prominent name in the foldable smartphone market with its Magic V series, has unveiled its first clamshell foldable, the Magic V Flip.

This impressive addition stands out with its striking 4-inch LTPO OLED cover screen, setting new standards in the flip foldable segment.

The outward-facing panel boasts a resolution of 1,092 x 1,200 pixels (405 ppi), a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness. It features 2,160 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, offering excellent visual performance.

The large screen enhances usability by supporting a 16:9 mode for apps and a horizontal split for video playback, with a control panel on the bottom half. Users can also enjoy numerous Always on Display (AoD) options and run full-screen apps directly on the cover display. Honor’s innovative continuity features ensure a seamless transition from the cover screen to the main display.

The main display of the Magic V Flip is a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED with FHD+ resolution, a 21:9 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It reaches a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, covers 92% of the BT.2020 color space, and is Dolby Vision certified, delivering an exceptional viewing experience.

The Magic V Flip folds completely flat, measuring 14.89mm when closed and 7.5mm when unfolded. It incorporates a proprietary hinge mechanism made with lightweight steel foil components and an aluminum frame, ensuring durability and elegance.

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, the device offers up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The entry-level version comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The device also features a 0.25mm ultra-thin liquid-cooled VC plate, providing efficient heat dissipation over a 2,300mm area.

Camera enthusiasts will appreciate the 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX906 sensor, a 12MP ultrawide module, and a 50MP front-facing camera with the IMX816 sensor. The software is covered by MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14, while the 4,800 mAh battery supports 66W fast charging.

Available in Iris Black, Camellia White, and Champagne Pink, the Magic V Flip also offers a limited-edition Jimmy Choo version with green glitter. Pricing starts at CNY 4,999 ($690/€640) for the 12/256GB model, and CNY 5,999 ($827/€768) for the high-end 16GB RAM and 1TB storage variant. Honor has yet to announce international availability.
