Huawei has officially launched its highly anticipated Pura 80 series, introducing four new models — Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro, Pura 80 Pro+, and Pura 80 Ultra.
The flagship lineup boasts major performance upgrades, most notably with the inclusion of Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9020 chipset in select models.
While Huawei remains tight-lipped about detailed specs in its official announcements, the company claims the Pura 80 series is 36% faster than the previous Pura 70 lineup.
Tech insiders from Weibo have confirmed that the Pura 80 Pro+ and Pura 80 Ultra are both powered by the Kirin 9020, also found in the Mate 70 series. This marks a significant leap from the Kirin 9010 used in last year’s Pura 70 models.
The Kirin 9020 is a custom HiSilicon processor featuring a tri-cluster CPU architecture:
1 Taishan Main Core @ 2.5GHz
3 Taishan Middle Cores @ 2.15GHz
4 Taishan Little Cores @ 1.6GHz
Two of the larger cores support hyperthreading, which can lead software to detect a 2+6+4 configuration instead of the actual 1+3+4 setup. The chipset also includes a Maleoon 920 GPU clocked at 840MHz, promising improved graphics performance.
The Pura 80 and Pura 80 Pro reportedly feature the Kirin 9020A, a slightly underclocked version of the main chipset. It runs at 2.4GHz, 2.0GHz, and 1.6GHz across its CPU clusters. However, official confirmation is still pending.
In terms of memory and storage:
Pura 80 & Pura 80 Pro: 12GB RAM, 256GB to 1TB storage
Pura 80 Pro+ & Ultra: 16GB RAM, 512GB or 1TB storage
All four models run on HarmonyOS 5.1, Huawei’s latest operating system.
The Huawei Pura 80 series blends cutting-edge hardware with sleek design, offering powerful options for both casual users and power enthusiasts. With the Kirin 9020 at its core, Huawei continues to push boundaries in mobile performance.
