The Sindh Revenue Board has granted agricultural income taxpayers an additional month to file returns, citing difficulties in meeting the September 30 deadline.

KARACHI: The Sindh government has extended the deadline for filing agricultural income tax returns to October 31, 2026, giving taxpayers an additional month to fulfil their filing obligations.

According to the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB), taxpayers in the province earning agricultural income can now submit their returns by October 31, 2026, instead of the previous deadline of September 30.

The SRB extended the deadline in view of difficulties faced by taxpayers in complying with the original cutoff date.

The extension provides additional time for agricultural income taxpayers in Sindh to complete the required documentation and file their returns with the provincial authorities.

FBR extends federal tax return deadline

Separately, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing annual income tax returns for Tax Year 2026 to October 15, 2026, from September 30.

The federal extension applies to the relevant annual income tax return filing requirements administered by the FBR, while the Sindh government’s latest decision concerns returns relating to agricultural income in the province.

Agricultural income tax falls under provincial jurisdiction

Agricultural income taxation is a provincial subject in Pakistan. Provincial governments have the authority to impose and collect agricultural income tax and administer the associated return-filing requirements within their respective jurisdictions.

Accordingly, taxpayers earning agricultural income in Sindh should observe the revised October 31 deadline announced by the provincial authorities.

The extension is intended to ease compliance for agricultural income taxpayers who faced difficulties meeting the original September 30 filing deadline.
