On day four of the second Test against Bangladesh, India delivered a masterclass in aggressive batting, obliterating multiple records, including the fastest team hundred and fastest team double hundred in the history of Test cricket.
The Indian batting juggernaut, led by explosive contributions from Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and other top-order batsmen, decimated the Bangladeshi bowling attack in an unforgettable display of power hitting.
India set the tone early, racing to 50 runs in just three overs, courtesy of the blistering starts from captain Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The duo crafted a rapid 55-run partnership, with Rohit smashing 19 runs off only six balls, including three towering sixes. Jaiswal, equally aggressive, raced to 30 off just 13 deliveries, propelling India to the fastest team fifty in Test cricket history in a mere three overs.
Despite the loss of Rohit Sharma, India’s momentum remained unchecked. Jaiswal, along with Shubman Gill, continued the onslaught, guiding India to another milestone—becoming the fastest team to reach 100 runs in Test cricket. India achieved this feat in just 10.1 overs, breaking their own record of 12.2 overs set in 2023 against the West Indies at Port of Spain.
India’s aggressive approach didn’t stop there. The team reached another extraordinary milestone by posting the fastest team double hundred in Test cricket, racing to 200 runs in just 24.2 overs. This shattered the previous record set by Australia, who took 28.1 overs to achieve the same mark against Pakistan in Sydney in 2017. Virat Kohli’s swift 47 off 35 balls and KL Rahul’s explosive 68 off 43 balls were instrumental in India’s historic charge.
Adding to the day’s triumph, India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja achieved a personal milestone by becoming the second-fastest player in Test cricket to complete the double of 3,000 runs and 300 wickets, reaching the landmark in 74 matches. Jadeja now stands alongside cricket legends Kapil Dev and Ravichandran Ashwin as one of only three Indians to achieve this rare feat. He also became the fourth-fastest Indian to claim 300 Test wickets, following Ashwin, Anil Kumble, and Harbhajan Singh.
India’s record-breaking performance not only decimated Bangladesh but also etched their names deeper into the annals of Test cricket history.
