Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian visits Pakistan on bilateral ties boost

High-level visit expected to strengthen Pakistan–Iran relations across trade, energy, security and regional connectivity.

ISLAMABAD: At the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, will arrive in Pakistan on Tuesday on a state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across multiple strategic sectors.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson on Monday, President Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers and senior government officials.

During the visit, the Iranian President is scheduled to hold meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and conduct official talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The engagements are expected to focus on deepening political dialogue and enhancing long-term cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

In addition, the Chairman of the Senate, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister will also meet the visiting dignitary as part of the official programme.

This marks President Pezeshkian’s second visit to Pakistan in his capacity as head of state, highlighting the continuity of high-level diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Tehran.

The Foreign Office said both sides will review the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and explore new avenues for cooperation in key areas, including trade, energy, border security, people-to-people contacts and regional connectivity.

Discussions are also expected to cover ongoing diplomatic understandings following the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, alongside regional and international developments of mutual interest.

Officials emphasised that the visit reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to strengthen historic and cultural ties. It also underscores a mutual aspiration for peace, stability and sustainable development across the broader region.
