Samsung Electronics has signed a major enterprise agreement with OpenAI, making ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex available to employees across its global operations as the technology giant accelerates the adoption of artificial intelligence in its business.
The agreement marks one of OpenAI’s largest enterprise partnerships and deepens the relationship between the two companies, which already collaborate in semiconductor manufacturing, with Samsung serving as one of OpenAI’s AI chip suppliers.
Under the deal, Samsung employees across various divisions will gain access to ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to support a wide range of tasks, including software development, product design, marketing, manufacturing, and other technical and non-technical functions.
Samsung has increasingly focused on AI technologies in recent years, integrating advanced features into its Galaxy devices through Galaxy AI and expanding the use of artificial intelligence across its broader business operations.
The deployment of OpenAI’s enterprise tools is expected to help improve productivity and streamline workflows throughout the company. While Codex was initially designed as a coding assistant, it has evolved into a broader productivity tool capable of helping teams write, review, and debug code, as well as organize complex work processes.
OpenAI said Codex has seen rapid adoption globally, with more than five million users and nearly 800% growth since February this year.
The partnership reflects a broader trend among major South Korean organizations embracing generative AI technologies. Companies including LG Electronics have already incorporated OpenAI tools into their operations, while Seoul National University recently introduced ChatGPT Edu for approximately 47,000 students and staff members.
Industry analysts say the agreement highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence in corporate operations, as companies seek to improve efficiency, accelerate innovation, and enhance competitiveness through AI-powered tools.
The latest move also reinforces Samsung’s strategy of integrating AI not only into consumer products but throughout its internal business ecosystem, positioning the company to leverage artificial intelligence across product development and manufacturing processes.
