Karachi, May 13, 2024 – The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has issued a detailed report on shipping movements for the past 48 hours, providing valuable information to stakeholders and facilitating smooth operations at one of Pakistan’s busiest ports.
According to the report, several ships were berthed at Karachi Port during the specified period, playing a crucial role in facilitating trade and commerce. Among the vessels berthed were the HMM Bangkok, Express Argentina, Cosco New York, CMA CGM Attila, Spring Oais, M.T Quetta, Yong Chang Shu Hang, and X-Press Cassiopeia. These ships, ranging from container carriers to tankers, were involved in various cargo operations, contributing to the port’s bustling activity.
Additionally, several ships sailed from Karachi Port during the same timeframe, including the Nymph Thetis, Atlantic Ibis, HMM Bangkok, ESL Nhava Sheva, Aljalaa, and Express Argentina. Their departure signifies the completion of their respective operations and highlights the dynamic nature of maritime activities at the port.
Looking ahead, the report also provides insights into expected sailing and arrival schedules. The Octa Lune and CMA CGM Attila are expected to sail on May 13, 2024, while several vessels are slated to arrive at the port on the same day. Among the anticipated arrivals are the Ital Unica and Nordlion, carrying cargo such as ethanol and containers. Additionally, vessels like Belita, Stolt Beluga, Lila ACE, YM Express, Grace Bridge, and Amoureux are expected to arrive on May 14, 2024, with diverse cargo ranging from chemicals to containers.
In terms of cargo handling turnover, Karachi Port witnessed significant activity during the reporting period. The total cargo handled amounted to 230,760 Metric Tons, comprising 115,621 Metric Tons of export cargo and 115,139 Metric Tons of import cargo. Containerized cargo dominated the handling operations, accounting for 148,508 Metric Tons, followed by bulk cargo and clinkers. Additionally, a portion of the cargo comprised oil/liquid cargo, reflecting the port’s diverse handling capabilities.
