Hollywood actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have reached a settlement in their high-profile legal dispute over the film It Ends With Us, avoiding a trial that was scheduled to proceed in the coming weeks.
In a joint statement released through their legal teams on Monday, May 4, the two confirmed that an agreement had been reached just ahead of jury selection. Both parties said they remain proud of the film’s message and its focus on supporting domestic violence survivors, while acknowledging that the production process “presented challenges.”
Legal Dispute Comes to an End
The dispute began in December 2024 when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment, alleging a hostile work environment during filming. She further claimed she faced retaliation and a coordinated smear campaign after raising concerns.
Baldoni consistently denied all allegations and filed a counter-suit, which was later dismissed by a judge.
The case was overseen by U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman, who had previously urged both parties to reach a settlement rather than proceed to a public trial.
Partial Dismissals and Ongoing Claims
In April, the court dismissed several of Lively’s claims, including harassment, defamation, and conspiracy allegations. However, three claims were allowed to proceed: breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting retaliation.
While Baldoni’s legal team welcomed the dismissal of the more serious allegations, Lively’s representatives maintained that the core issue remained focused on retaliation linked to workplace safety concerns.
Settlement and Public Response
With the settlement now confirmed, both actors have expressed a desire to move forward and leave the legal conflict behind. Their joint statement emphasized a shared commitment to maintaining professional environments free from “unproductive” and harmful workplace dynamics.
The statement also called for a more respectful online environment and highlighted hopes that the resolution would bring closure to all parties involved.
Moving Forward
The settlement marks the end of one of Hollywood’s most closely watched legal disputes in recent years. Both stars are now expected to return their focus to their professional careers following the resolution.
