The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast indicating mainly dry conditions across most parts of the country for Thursday, April 4, 2024.
The forecast suggests that while temperatures may soar in southern regions, precipitation in the form of rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms, with possible snowfall over high mountainous areas, is expected at isolated locations in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and southwestern Balochistan.
According to the PMD’s synoptic analysis, a shallow trough of westerly wave is currently influencing the upper parts of the country and is anticipated to persist over the next 24 hours. This meteorological pattern suggests a continuation of relatively dry conditions in most regions, with localized instances of inclement weather in specific areas.
The weather conditions observed on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, were characterized by predominantly dry weather throughout the country, with hot temperatures prevailing in southern regions. However, isolated incidents of rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms, accompanied by snowfall over high-altitude areas, were reported in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, the Pothohar region, and Lasbella.
Rainfall measurements recorded during this period include notable figures such as 24mm in Kalam, 17mm in Upper Dir and 2mm in Lower Dir, 16mm in Chitral, 13mm in Balakot, 11mm in Drosh, 6mm in Kakul, Malam Jabba, and Mirkhani, 3mm in Peshawar (Airport) and 1mm in Peshawar (City), among others. Additionally, significant snowfall, amounting to 1 inch, was recorded in Kalam.

Looking ahead to Thursday, April 4, 2024, the PMD’s forecast provides valuable insights for residents and stakeholders across the country, enabling them to plan and prepare for anticipated weather conditions. While the majority of regions are expected to experience dry weather, it’s crucial for those in areas prone to isolated precipitation events to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
As weather patterns continue to evolve, the PMD remains committed to providing timely and accurate forecasts, aiding individuals, communities, and authorities in effectively managing and mitigating the impact of weather-related phenomena across Pakistan.
