Karachi, April 3, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Wednesday, April 3, 2024, detailing a bustling day of maritime operations aimed at facilitating stakeholders and ensuring smooth cargo handling.

Six ships were prominently featured in today’s operations, including the Maersk Kensington, Kyparissia, MSC Spring, Mala Kado, Silver Heba, and Al-Wajbah. These vessels were scheduled to load and offload a variety of goods such as containers, cement, palm oil, and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Each ship was designated to berth at different terminals within the port, including the Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Liquid Terminal, and Elengy Terminal, highlighting the diversified nature of cargo handling at Port Qasim.

Over the past 24 hours, a total of thirteen ships were engaged at PQA berths, demonstrating the port’s high level of activity and importance in regional trade. Two of these ships, the Al-Diab-III and Chemroad Journey, departed the port earlier this morning, while four more vessels, including the Al-Areesh, Uog Sparta, MSC Spring, and Maersk Kensington, are scheduled to set sail later in the afternoon, further contributing to the dynamic flow of goods in and out of the port.

In terms of cargo volume, Port Qasim handled a total of 267,762 tonnes over the past day, comprising 222,987 tonnes of imports and 44,775 tonnes of exports. This cargo was transported in 6,800 containers, with 4,660 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) dedicated to imports and 2,140 TEUs allocated for exports. These figures underscore the port’s significance as a major gateway for trade, serving both domestic and international markets.

Looking ahead, there are currently five ships stationed at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, with two of them, the Kyparissia and Chem Gallium, expected to take berths at the Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) and Engro Vopak Terminal Limited (EVTL) respectively, later today. Additionally, the Alba Gas, carrying containers, chemicals, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), is also slated to berth at the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) terminal. Furthermore, another bulk cargo carrier, the Sea-Pearl, is anticipated to arrive at Port Qasim tomorrow, further adding to the port’s ongoing operations.
