Karachi, March 17, 2025 – Mari Energies Limited has announced its second significant gas and condensate discovery at the Spinwam-1 well in the Waziristan Block, reinforcing its commitment to Pakistan’s energy sector.
In a notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Mari Energies referred to its earlier announcement on February 25, 2025, when the company disclosed its first discovery of gas and condensate in the Samanasuk Formation of the Spinwam-1 well.
Now, Mari has confirmed a second discovery at the same well, this time in the Kawagarh Formation. According to the company, the well has yielded an impressive 20.485 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas along with 117 barrels per day (bbl/day) of condensate. The test was conducted at a 32/64” choke, with a Well Head Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 3,431 psig.
Further Testing Underway to Assess Discovery’s Full Potential
Mari Energies has stated that additional formations are still being evaluated through extended testing to determine the well’s complete hydrocarbon potential. This discovery marks a crucial milestone for Mari, strengthening Pakistan’s energy security by adding new reserves to the national supply.
Mari’s Role and Joint Venture Partners
Mari Energies Limited operates the Waziristan Block, holding a 55% working interest in the project. The company is working in collaboration with its joint venture partners, including:
• Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) – Holding 35% working interest
• Orient Petroleum Inc. – Holding 10% working interest
This latest discovery reinforces Mari’s position as a leading exploration and production company in Pakistan, actively contributing to domestic energy self-sufficiency. Industry experts believe this second discovery could significantly boost Mari’s production capabilities and add to Pakistan’s hydrocarbon reserves.
Additionally, this discovery is expected to attract further investments in Pakistan’s oil and gas sector, enhancing exploration and production activities in the region. Mari’s continued efforts in hydrocarbon exploration could play a vital role in reducing Pakistan’s energy import dependence, ultimately strengthening the country’s economic stability.
