Nothing Phone (3) Launches on Android 15, Android 16 Soon

Nothing Phone (3)

Nothing has officially launched the Nothing Phone (3), marking its debut in the flagship smartphone category.

The device, introduced yesterday, boasts top-tier hardware along with a long-term software support commitment — promising five years of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

Despite Google’s official release of Android 16, the Nothing Phone (3) runs on Nothing OS 3.5, which is based on Android 15.

However, the company confirmed that an update to Android 16 is already in the pipeline. During the launch event, Carl Pei, Founder and CEO of Nothing, announced that Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, will roll out later this autumn.

The Nothing Phone (3) is expected to be the first device to receive the Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0 update, followed by older models in the company’s lineup. While an exact release date was not given, the timeframe suggests users won’t have to wait long for the latest Android experience.

The Phone (3) will be available for pre-order starting July 4, with sales beginning on July 15. This new flagship smartphone brings several high-end features that elevate it above previous Nothing devices. Key specifications include:

Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor

6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display with a resolution of 1,260p

Four 50MP cameras offering advanced photography capabilities

5,150 mAh battery (5,500 mAh variant exclusive to India)

Nothing’s decision to delay Android 16 on its newest phone ensures users receive a stable, optimized experience through its customized Nothing OS. With a strong emphasis on long-term updates and robust performance, the Nothing Phone (3) aims to stand out in the increasingly competitive flagship market.

The combination of premium features and extended software support positions the Nothing Phone (3) as a solid contender for users seeking both innovation and longevity.
