Karachi, January 20, 2025 – The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced significant advancements in oil and gas production from two of its key wells, signaling a positive development for Pakistan’s energy sector.
In a statement shared with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), OGDCL detailed its success in enhancing oil production at the Pasakhi-7 well, located in District Hyderabad, Sindh. This well operates under the Pasakhi Development and Production Lease (D&PL), where OGDCL holds a 100% working interest.
As part of its strategic optimization efforts, OGDCL utilized cutting-edge techniques to boost production. A rig was deployed to replace the tubing and re-complete the well using an artificial lift system known as a Jet Pump. Additionally, for the first time in the Southern Region, the company employed Multiphysio Chemical Stimulation technology. These interventions have resulted in a remarkable increase in production at Pasakhi-7, which has risen from 375 barrels per day (BPD) to 520 BPD—a significant increment of 145 BPD.
Chak 212-1 Exploratory Well – First Discovery in Mari East Block
OGDCL also announced the successful commencement of gas production at the Chak 212-1 exploratory well, marking a groundbreaking achievement as the first discovery in the Mari East Block, situated in Rahim Yar Khan district, Punjab. The company holds a 100% working interest in this block.
To enable production, a 4-inch, 14.5-kilometer flow line was laid from the Chak 212-1 well site to the Maru-1 facility. Gas from this well is now being supplied to M/s Engro Fertilizer at a rate of 2.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), contributing to the country’s fertilizer and energy needs.
These developments underscore OGDCL’s commitment to bolstering Pakistan’s energy resources. The company continues to focus on leveraging advanced technologies, optimizing production processes, and fostering sustainable growth in the oil and gas sector.
OGDCL’s latest achievements not only enhance energy security but also highlight the potential for future discoveries and advancements in Pakistan’s resource exploration, strengthening the country’s position in meeting its growing energy demands.
