Pakistan condemns the September 29 Houthi attack on Madinah’s Taibah power station and reaffirms solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent Houthi attack targeting the Taibah power distribution station in Madinah, calling the strike a grave provocation and a deeply distressing development for Muslims around the world.
In a statement issued on Friday, Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan denounced the September 29 attack on the essential civilian infrastructure, which supplies power to the area around the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Mosque.
The spokesperson stressed that the sanctity and security of the Two Holy Mosques must be respected under all circumstances. He said the safety of worshippers and pilgrims visiting the sacred sites should remain a fundamental priority and must not be compromised by regional hostilities.
Pakistan called for an immediate and unconditional end to attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, warning that strikes against critical public utilities could further threaten regional peace and stability.
Islamabad also reiterated its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed its support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan stood with Saudi Arabia in its efforts to protect its citizens, secure critical infrastructure and safeguard the holy sites in Makkah and Madinah.
The statement comes amid continuing regional tensions and concerns over attacks involving civilian and strategic infrastructure.
Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional stability and peaceful resolution of disputes. The Foreign Office maintained that respect for international norms and the protection of civilians and religiously significant sites are essential to preventing further escalation.
Islamabad also said it would continue supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening regional peace and security while maintaining close coordination with Saudi Arabia.
