Pakistan Detects 76 New COVID Cases During Last Week

Islamabad, August 29, 2023 – Health officials in Pakistan have reported the detection of 76 new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) during the last week.

This update comes as the nation continues its efforts to monitor and manage the ongoing pandemic.

According to data provided by the National Institute of Health (NIH), the case positivity ratio for the reported cases was 0.82 percent.

Among the newly identified cases, two patients were reported to be in critical condition. Fortunately, there were no reported COVID-19-related deaths during this period.

A total of 9,318 COVID-19 tests were conducted as part of the ongoing surveillance and testing efforts.

In addition to these statistics, officials from the Ministry for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination announced that the government has strengthened the role of Border and Health Services to address potential sub-variants of COVID-19.

Surveillance systems have been established at all entry points into the country, including airports, to monitor and manage potential cases. Passengers arriving at airports will undergo rapid tests and screenings as part of these measures.

It’s noteworthy that the official also stated that 90 percent of the country’s population has already received the COVID-19 vaccine. This vaccination effort is a crucial component of the government’s strategy to control the spread of the virus and protect public health.

As Pakistan continues its vigilance in monitoring and responding to COVID-19, the government remains committed to taking necessary measures to mitigate the impact of the virus and protect the well-being of its citizens.
