Ministry says online Hajj system surpasses target in eight days as government advances plans for fully digital pilgrimage services.

ISLAMABAD, June 29, 2026 – Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has exceeded its target of registering 150,000 Hajj applications within just eight days through its online Hajj portal, marking a significant milestone in the government’s push toward digital public services.

The ministry said the achievement reflects growing public confidence in the digital platform developed by the National IT Board, which enables pilgrims to complete registration procedures online without visiting government offices.

According to a ministry spokesperson, efforts to fully digitise Hajj operations are progressing rapidly under the government’s broader e-governance agenda. The online Hajj portal and the “Pak Hajj” mobile application have streamlined the registration process, allowing applicants to submit their details from home through a transparent and user-friendly system.

The spokesperson said the response from the public has been overwhelmingly positive, with many users praising the initiative for improving accessibility, efficiency and transparency in government service delivery.

The ministry is also preparing to digitise the collection of Hajj dues as part of the next phase of the project. Officials said plans to integrate online payments into the Hajj system have reached the final stages of implementation.

Under the proposed mechanism, pilgrims will be able to pay Hajj fees directly through the online portal or the Pak Hajj mobile application. The payment system is being developed in collaboration with One Link, Pakistan’s digital payments network.

Once operational, the system will eliminate the need for applicants to visit banks or government offices, enabling the entire process—from registration to payment—to be completed electronically.

Experts believe the initiative will particularly benefit overseas Pakistanis by allowing them to register for Hajj, track application status and make payments from anywhere in the world.

The ministry has also introduced additional features within the portal and mobile application, enabling users to access registration details, application status and other important information through a single digital platform.

Officials say the project represents a major step toward modernising Hajj management and improving services for pilgrims through technology-driven solutions.
