The Pakistani national hockey team is all set to embark on its journey to China on September 21, where they will be competing in the highly anticipated Asian Games.
With the training camp in full swing at the Pakistan Sports Complex, the team is leaving no stone unturned to ensure top-notch performance in the upcoming tournament.
The national team has been diligently preparing for the Asian Games, conducting rigorous training sessions at the Naseer Banda Hockey Stadium.
Under the watchful eye of their head coach, Olympian Shahnaz Sheikh, special attention has been given to honing the skills of the players. The team management is optimistic about Pakistan’s prospects in the tournament, aiming for stellar results.
When questioned about the team’s fitness, National Hockey Team Manager Saeed Khan mentioned that there have been discussions regarding the replacement of unfit players, although no final decisions have been made on this matter.
The Asian Games are scheduled to kick off on September 24, with Pakistan placed in Pool A alongside their traditional rival, India. Pool B consists of Japan, Bangladesh, Singapore, and Uzbekistan.
The Pakistani team’s initial matches include encounters with Singapore on September 24, Bangladesh on September 26, and Uzbekistan on September 28.
Fans can mark their calendars for the much-anticipated showdown between Pakistan and India on September 30. The Green Shirts will wrap up their pool matches against Japan on October 02.
As the tournament progresses, the semifinals of the Asian Games men’s hockey event are set to take place on October 04, leading up to the grand finale on October 06.
