The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted thundershowers in the upper parts of the country on Friday, August 4, 2023.
The regions expected to experience rain, wind, and thundershowers are Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in some places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, and Kashmir during the forecast period. The rest of the country is expected to have hot and humid weather.
The current weather pattern is influenced by moist currents from the Arabian Sea penetrating the upper parts of the country, and a westerly wave affecting western and upper regions.
Weather on Thursday, August 3, 2023, was hot and humid in most parts of the country. However, there were rain, wind, and thundershower activities in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Some places in Kashmir and northeast Punjab experienced heavy rainfall during this time.
In the past 24 hours prior to the update, most parts of the country experienced hot and dry weather. However, isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, and Kashmir received rain and thundershowers.

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Balakot 38, Saidu Sharif 33, Mardan 23, Malam Jabba 18, Cherat 14, Dir (Lower 12, Upper 09), Bannu 03, Kalam 01.
• Punjab: Mandi Bahauddin 32, Mangla 29, Jhelum 28, Attock 23, Narowal 12, Lahore (Airport) 10, Gujrat 09, Sialkot (City) 06, Rawalpindi (Kacheri 05, Chaklala 02).
• Kashmir: Kotli 11.
The recorded highest maximum temperatures (in °C) for the day were Dalbandin at 45 and Nokkundi at 44.
Residents in the affected regions are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions during the thundershowers.
