The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather update for August 5, 2023, forecasting hot and humid weather in most parts of the country.
However, there are also predictions of rain, wind, and thundershowers in certain regions.
According to the PMD, the areas expected to experience rain, wind, and thundershowers include Kashmir, Islamabad, the Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The forecast further warns that heavy rainfall may occur in some places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, and Kashmir during the day.
The weather patterns are influenced by moist currents originating from the Arabian Sea, which are penetrating the upper parts of Pakistan. Additionally, a westerly wave has been identified over western and upper parts of the country.
Looking back at the past 24 hours, the weather remained hot and dry in most areas of Pakistan. However, rain and thundershowers were reported in several places. In Punjab, Chakwal received 51mm of rainfall, followed by Mandi Bahawaldin with 31mm, Sialkot with 21mm, Murree with 09mm, Gujrat with 07mm, Mangala with 03mm, and Jhelum with 01mm. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Malam Jabba recorded 18mm of rainfall, while Kakul received 05mm. In Kashmir, Rawlakot recorded 01mm of rainfall.
As for the recorded highest maximum temperatures (°C) during the day, Dalbandin and Nokkundi reached 45°C, while Sibbi recorded a maximum temperature of 43°C.
The PMD advises residents in the affected regions to take necessary precautions and stay updated on the weather conditions to ensure their safety during the forecast period.
