Pakistan’s Women’s Cricket Coach Exits Before Key Series

Pakistan’s women’s team is dealt an unforeseen blow as Head Coach Mark Coles makes an abrupt exit citing personal reasons.

Coles, who took up the position in April, has swiftly resigned, leaving Pakistan without his valuable guidance for the imminent white-ball series against South Africa on home ground next month.

Coles, a well-versed personality in cricketing circles, previously led Pakistan’s women’s team from 2017 to 2019. His global coaching experience also spans across spells with Scotland’s women’s team and Papua New Guinea’s men’s team.

His return to the Asian nation earlier this year was met with great expectations, but his sudden departure has left the team in a state of uncertainty.

However, winds of transformation are not only blowing through Pakistan. Ireland has also unveiled an interim modification to its coaching roster.

Glenn Querl, previously at the helm of Ireland’s team during the ICC Women’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup, steps up to take the temporary charge.

This tactical maneuver sees regular coach Ed Joyce accompanying the team as Querl’s deputy during the upcoming three-match T20I tour of the Netherlands.

These developments mark a pivotal moment in the realm of women’s cricket coaching, as both Pakistan and Ireland navigate through coaching adjustments in preparation for critical encounters on the field.
