Strategic partnership marks a major step in promoting cricket and developing world-class sports infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have taken a significant step toward strengthening their sporting ties after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation (SACF) signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a modern international-standard cricket stadium in Jeddah.
The announcement was made by Saudi Arabia’s newly appointed Press Attaché to Pakistan, Saif Naseer, through his first official statement shared on social media platform X. He described the agreement as the beginning of a new era of cricket cooperation between the two countries, aimed at expanding the sport’s footprint in the Kingdom.
According to the details, the MoU focuses on promoting cricket and improving sports infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. Under the agreement, a state-of-the-art cricket stadium meeting international standards will be constructed in Jeddah, providing a major boost to the country’s growing ambitions in global cricket.
The agreement was formally signed by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation Chairman Prince Saud. The partnership reflects the shared commitment of both cricket authorities to strengthen bilateral sporting relations while encouraging the development of cricket across the region.
Officials involved in the signing ceremony emphasized that the collaboration extends beyond the construction of a single venue.
They said the partnership is intended to establish a strong foundation for the long-term growth of cricket in Saudi Arabia through infrastructure development, cooperation, and future initiatives.
The proposed stadium is expected to serve as a key venue for international and domestic cricket events, while also supporting player development and expanding opportunities for aspiring cricketers in Saudi Arabia. The project aligns with the Kingdom’s broader efforts to diversify its sports sector and host international sporting competitions.
The collaboration also highlights Pakistan’s role in supporting cricket development beyond its borders. With its rich cricketing heritage and technical expertise, the PCB is expected to contribute significantly to the successful execution of the project.
Sports analysts believe the agreement could pave the way for further cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in coaching, talent development, cricket administration, and future bilateral initiatives, reinforcing cricket’s growing popularity in the Gulf region.
