Prime minister calls for compassion, sacrifice and solidarity with vulnerable communities during Eid celebrations
Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday urged the nation to remember the underprivileged, needy and vulnerable segments of society during Eid al-Adha, saying the religious occasion calls for compassion, sacrifice and collective responsibility.
In his message on the occasion of 10th Zil Hajj 1447 Hijra, the prime minister extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Pakistan and the wider Muslim Ummah on the blessed festival of Eid ul Adha.
He said the spirit of sacrifice, unity and solidarity was essential for ensuring lasting national cohesion and sustainable progress.
“The spiritual occasion of Eid demands that we collectively and individually take special care of the underprivileged, needy and vulnerable people around us and include them in our festivities,” the prime minister said.
He noted that Eid ul Adha commemorates the sacrifice and obedience of Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail, symbolising complete submission to the command of Allah Almighty.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, Shehbaz Sharif said the sacred tradition teaches that sacrificing personal desires and interests for a noble cause reflects the highest level of faith, loyalty and devotion.
He added that the spirit of sacrifice encourages people to rise above selfishness and narrow-mindedness and instead adopt compassion, selflessness and responsibility toward humanity.
The prime minister also paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defense of the country and in incidents of terrorism, describing their sacrifices as a source of national pride.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, he said Pakistan stood firmly with them during difficult times.
Shehbaz Sharif prayed that Allah Almighty may bless everyone with the true spirit and blessings of Eid ul Adha, accept their sacrifices and make the world a place of peace, love and harmony.
