Islamabad, July 25, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted hot and very humid weather for most parts of the country on Friday, July 26, 2024.

According to the PMD’s latest weather forecast, the oppressive heat and humidity will dominate the day, with some areas potentially experiencing rain-wind/thundershower in the evening or night.

In its weather outlook for Friday, the PMD indicated that while most regions will endure hot and very humid conditions, there is a likelihood of rain-wind/thundershower at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, northeast Balochistan, and Kashmir during the evening or night.

This PMD forecast follows the synoptic situation where weak Monsoon currents are making their way into the central and upper parts of the country. Additionally, a shallow westerly wave is expected to impact the central and southern regions from this evening or night.

The weather on Thursday, July 25, 2024, is similarly forecasted to be hot and very humid across most of the country. However, the PMD expects rain-wind/thundershower at isolated places in central and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, northeast Balochistan, southeast Sindh, northeast and south Punjab, and Kashmir.

Over the past 24 hours, hot and humid weather prevailed across most parts of the country, with isolated rain-wind/thundershower occurring in northeastern Balochistan, eastern and central Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, lower Sindh, and Kashmir.

Rainfall measurements in the past 24 hours recorded notable amounts, with Sibbi in Balochistan receiving 47mm, Sahiwal in Punjab 17mm, Noorpur Thal 5mm, Kasur 3mm, Pattan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 3mm, and Gilgit in Gilgit-Baltistan 2mm.

Additionally, the highest maximum temperatures recorded yesterday were scorching, with Sibbi and Dalbandin in Balochistan reaching 47°C, Nokkundi 46°C, and Jacobabad in Sindh 45°C.

As the heatwave continues, residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated. The PMD recommends avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, drinking plenty of water, and wearing light, breathable clothing. Those in regions expecting rain-wind/thundershower should stay updated with weather alerts and take measures to ensure safety during sudden weather changes.
