Port Qasim Issues Shipping Activity for December 20, 2023

Karachi, December 20, 2023 – Port Qasim Authority (PQA) provided an update on shipping activity for Wednesday, December 20, 2023, revealing a bustling maritime scene with a total of twelve ships actively involved in loading and unloading operations.

Six ships, namely Maersk Kinloss, Clean Sanctuary, Chem-Road Polaris, Limra, and Ejnan, were scheduled to load or offload various cargoes, including containers, fuel oil, palm oil, coal, LPG, and LNG. These vessels berthed at different terminals, such as Container Terminal, Oil Terminal, Liquid Terminal, Electric Power Terminal, Sui Southern Terminal, and Gas Terminal, reflecting the diverse range of goods passing through the port.

Among the twelve ships engaged in the last 24 hours, six, including Indigo Cefiro, Al-Bida, Limra, Stamina SW, Northern Javelin, and Maersk Kinloss, were expected to set sail on Wednesday. This dynamic shipping activity highlights the strategic importance of Port Qasim as a key gateway for both imports and exports in the region.

The cargo volume handled during the past 24 hours was substantial, reaching 260,533 tonnes. This comprised 204,824 tonnes of imported cargo and 55,709 tonnes of export cargo, with a total of 4,780 containers (3,080 TEUs for imports and 1,700 TEUs for exports). The efficient handling of such a significant volume underscores the operational capabilities of Port Qasim.

At the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, five ships were positioned, including a General Cargo ship named ‘Elgiznur Cebi,’ along with two others, Celemens Schulte and Sheng Ping Hai. These vessels were scheduled to load or unload cement, containers, and coal, with berths assigned at Mw-1, QICT, and PIBT, respectively, on Wednesday.

Looking ahead, two more Container ships, Seaspan Ganges and Spil Kartini, are expected to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday, further contributing to the ongoing shipping activity.

The diverse range of goods being handled, coupled with the continuous arrival and departure of vessels, underscores Port Qasim’s pivotal role in facilitating trade and commerce.
