Karachi, September 11, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Wednesday, September 11, 2024, providing essential updates for stakeholders on ongoing port operations.
According to the report, a total of seven ships arrived and berthed at various terminals within the port on Tuesday, engaging in the loading and unloading of a range of cargoes, including containers, bitumen, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Among the newly berthed vessels, MSC Surabaya-VIII, Maersk Nyassa, Maersk Hartford, and MSC Capetown-III docked at the Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), while Da Heng Shan berthed at the Multi-Purpose Terminal for bitumen handling. Additionally, Simaisma was berthed at Engro Elengy Terminal for LNG operations, and Al-Diab-II was docked at the Sui Southern Gas Terminal for LPG handling.
Further shipping activity was reported at the outer anchorage, where two vessels, Ab Serena and Lusail, arrived on Wednesday carrying chemicals and LNG, respectively. These ships are awaiting their turn for berthing.
Over the past 24 hours, Port Qasim has been bustling with activity, with a total of 40 ships engaged at various berths. Two ships, MSC Surabaya-VIII and Diamond Globe, departed from the port on Wednesday morning. In addition, eight more vessels, including Maersk Hartford, Maersk Nyassa, MSC Capetown-III, Eva Hong Kong, Sea Destiny, NCC Bader, Al-Diab-II, and Au-Taurus, are expected to set sail later in the day.
The port handled a substantial cargo volume of 277,674 tonnes over the past 24 hours, comprising 200,007 tonnes of imported cargo and 77,667 tonnes of export cargo. The cargo was transported in 7,779 containers, with 3,992 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) of imported containers and 3,787 TEUs of exported containers processed during this period.
Currently, ten ships are stationed at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Of these, six vessels – HPC Vision, New Levant, Torm Malaysia, Khairpur, Mayagas-1, and Lusail – are set to berth at various terminals, including the FAP, LCT, FOTCO, EVTL, PGPCL, PIBT, and QICT, carrying diverse cargoes such as fertilizer, peas, palm oil, mogas, LPG, LNG, coal, and containers. Moreover, three more ships, Cl Anzi He, Marathopolis, and CMA CGM La Scala, are also scheduled to dock at the port later in the day.
Looking ahead, another container ship, ONE Recommendation, is scheduled to arrive at the port on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
