Karachi, December 27, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has reported active shipping operations on Friday, December 27, 2024, to accommodate the needs of stakeholders and ensure smooth port activities.
On Thursday morning, four ships—San Francisco Bridge, GFS Ruby, Kyoto Xpress, and Xpress Jaya—arrived at the Container Terminal to load and offload containers. Additionally, four other ships—Arinaga, Alaa, Chemroad Sakura, and Renad—reached the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim. These vessels are scheduled to handle diverse cargo, including rice, LPG, chemicals, and gas oil.
During the past 24 hours, a total of twelve ships were engaged at various PQA berths. Out of these, five vessels departed from the port on Friday morning, while four additional ships are expected to set sail later this afternoon. The efficient management of port operations highlights PQA’s commitment to facilitating maritime trade.
The port handled a significant cargo volume of 182,706 tonnes within the last 24 hours. This included 134,313 tonnes of imported cargo and 48,393 tonnes of exported cargo. Containerized shipments played a key role, with 3,958 containers processed, comprising 3,331 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of imports and 1,627 TEUs of exports.
Currently, twenty-two ships are anchored at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Among these, five vessels—Fline, Sinar Gallant, Ocean Spirit, Chemroad Sakura, and MSC Positano—are scheduled to berth on Friday. These ships will handle a variety of cargoes, including rice, palm oil, gas oil, chemicals, and containers, at different terminals such as MW, LCT, FOTCO, EVTL, and QICT.
