Port Qasim Releases Shipping Activity for March 29

Karachi, March 29, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has issued a comprehensive report detailing shipping activity for Friday, March 29, 2024, aiming to facilitate stakeholders and provide insight into maritime operations at the port.

Five ships were scheduled for loading and offloading operations at various terminals within Port Qasim. The vessels included X-Press Mekong, Taxidiara, Kerala, Sky Runner, and Al-Bidda, tasked with handling a diverse range of cargoes such as containers, cement, furnace oil, palm oil, and LNG. These ships were berthed at Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Liquid Terminal, Elengy Terminal, and Oil Terminal, respectively, during the reporting period.

Over the past 24 hours, a total of eleven ships were engaged at PQA berths, with two vessels, Chemroad Rose and Belforest, departing from the port earlier in the day. Additionally, three more ships, namely Sky Runner, Nimble Nicky, and X-Press Mekong, are anticipated to set sail later in the afternoon.

Cargo handling operations remained robust at Port Qasim, with a total volume of 167,069 tonnes managed during the reporting period. This cargo comprised 120,863 tonnes of imports and 46,206 tonnes of exports, with 1,145 containers (305 TEUs imports and 840 TEUs exports) processed at the port.

At the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, five ships were observed, with the edible oil carrier ‘Yung Ding-19’ and another vessel, RDO Concord, transporting palm oil and containers, respectively, expected to berth at LCT and QICT terminals on Friday. Additionally, four container ships, namely APL Antwerp, X-Press Salween, Wide Alpha, and Meratus Jayakarta, are scheduled to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday, further augmenting shipping activity at the port.
