Port Qasim Releases Shipping Activity Report for February 12

Karachi, February 12, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Monday, February 12, 2024, providing crucial information to stakeholders and highlighting the dynamic operations at the port.

The report reveals that three ships – MSC Nora-III, Lady Dimine, and Al-Yamamah – berthed at the container terminal, multi-purpose terminal, and oil terminal, respectively, on February 11, 2024. These vessels were loaded with containers, wheat, and gas oil, showcasing the diverse nature of cargo being handled at Port Qasim.

In addition to these arrivals, two more ships, MSC Spring-III and Haj Mohammad, have arrived at the outer-anchorage of Port Qasim on February 12, 2024. These vessels are scheduled to load/offload containers and cement, contributing to the ongoing shipping activities.

During the last 24 hours, a total of eleven ships were engaged at PQA berths. Three of them – MSC Nora-III, Maersk Boston, and Young Sheng Guoji – have left the port, while six more ships – Bilbao Knutsen, Flaminia, PGc Patreas, Mirela, Arpeggio, and Al-Yamamah – are expected to sail on the same day.

The cargo volume handled at Port Qasim during this period reached 129,280 tonnes. This figure comprises 71,497 tonnes of imported cargo and 57,783 tonnes of export cargo, carried in 2,871 containers (167 TEUs imports and 2,704 TEUs exports). The efficient handling of such significant cargo volumes underscores the port’s crucial role in facilitating international trade.

Currently, there are 10 ships at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Four of these – MSC Spring-III, Southern Anoa, Beks Nazk, and Epic Sunter – carrying containers, palm oil, wheat, and LPG, are expected to take berths at QICT, LCT, FAP, and EVTL, respectively, on February 12. Another containership, Maersk Nyassa, is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
