Karachi, April 17, 2025: Port Qasim, one of Pakistan’s busiest and most strategic seaports, reported smooth and consistent shipping operations over the last 24 hours, as per the latest update issued by the Port Qasim Authority (PQA) on Thursday morning.
The daily operational report, released at 0800 hours, reflects a high level of coordination and efficiency across berthing, sailing, and vessel shifting activities.
Shipping operations at Port Qasim remain a crucial pillar of the national economy, facilitating both import and export flows. On April 17, a number of container and cargo vessels were managed through the port’s various terminals. Two major container vessels, M.V. George Washington Bridge and M.V. CMA CGM Verdi, successfully sailed out after completing loading and unloading operations at berths QT2-I and QT2-II respectively. Their timely departure highlights the port’s ability to maintain schedule reliability amidst high vessel traffic.
Simultaneously, the berthing of several key vessels added to the momentum of shipping activity. Notable among them were M.T. Orchid Kefalonia, carrying 11,580 metric tons of canola oil, and M.T. Al Soor II, bringing in a large gas oil consignment of over 59,000 metric tons. These vessels berthed at LCT and FOTCO terminals respectively, enhancing the port’s role in handling diverse cargo types including liquid bulk.
Container vessel M.V. SPIL Kartika also docked at QT2-I, further strengthening shipping throughput. Port Qasim’s infrastructure and skilled workforce continue to play a vital role in ensuring seamless operations.
The port also reported a successful shifting operation of M.V. Ken Star, a bulk carrier loaded with soybean seed. The vessel moved from outer anchorage to a designated berth to commence its discharge process, exemplifying the port’s dynamic scheduling and berthing management system.
With a strong operational rhythm, Port Qasim continues to support Pakistan’s maritime trade. As global and regional shipping demand grows, the port’s daily operations remain critical for maintaining smooth cargo flows, optimizing turnaround times, and supporting the broader logistics network.
In total, Port Qasim handled multiple vessels and commodities efficiently, ensuring that shipping operations remain uninterrupted and meet international standards.
