PTA Urges Users to Renew CNICs to Avoid SIM Suspension

ISLAMABAD, June 22 — The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned mobile phone users that SIM cards registered against expired or cancelled Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) may be blocked.

In a public advisory, the telecom regulator urged consumers to ensure that their CNICs remain valid and that their mobile records are updated to avoid disruption of services.

According to the PTA, subscribers whose CNICs have expired or been cancelled should immediately renew their identity documents through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and update their information with their respective mobile operators.

SIM Verification Required

The authority said maintaining accurate subscriber records is essential for ensuring compliance with telecom regulations and national security requirements.

Mobile users are advised to verify that their SIM registration details match their current CNIC information to prevent possible suspension or blockage of services.

PTA Advises Immediate Action

The PTA encouraged consumers to renew their CNICs at the earliest opportunity and update their mobile records once the renewal process is completed.

“Renew your CNIC through NADRA and update your mobile records today,” the regulator said in its advisory.

The warning serves as a reminder for millions of mobile subscribers across Pakistan to keep their identity information up to date to ensure uninterrupted mobile connectivity.
