Punjab Set for Cold Spell as Dry Weather Grips Most Districts

Islamabad, February 14, 2025 – The province of Punjab is forecasted to experience predominantly cold and dry weather conditions over the next 24 hours, with temperatures expected to remain low across most districts.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Punjab will witness chilly and dry weather, particularly in northern regions like Murree, Galiyat, and nearby areas, where very cold and partly cloudy conditions are expected. The PMD has cautioned residents to brace for colder temperatures, especially during the night and early morning hours.

Punjab’s plains are also likely to experience cold and dry conditions, though foggy patches may appear in some districts during early morning hours, potentially affecting visibility for commuters.

The PMD’s weather outlook indicates that cold and dry weather will prevail across much of the country, with hilly regions expected to face very cold conditions, especially at higher elevations.

In the federal capital and surrounding areas, similar cold and dry weather patterns are expected, mirroring Punjab’s conditions.

Other provinces will also experience cold and dry weather. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will see chilly conditions, particularly in its northern districts. Sindh will remain dry with mild temperatures, while Balochistan’s northern areas, including Quetta, Qilla Abdullah, Mastung, Kalat, and Chagai, might encounter gusty winds and occasional light rain during the evening or night.

Meanwhile, Kashmir is forecasted to experience very cold and dry weather, while Gilgit-Baltistan could receive light rain or snowfall in isolated locations during the evening or night.

Over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather persisted throughout most regions of Pakistan. The lowest temperatures recorded included Leh at -11°C, Kalam at -6°C, Gopis and Astore at -4°C, and Malam Jabba and Bagrot at -3°C.

The PMD has advised residents of Punjab to take necessary precautions against extreme temperatures, particularly during nighttime. Authorities have also recommended limiting outdoor activities during the coldest hours and ensuring adequate heating arrangements in homes.

With Punjab experiencing such weather patterns, residents are urged to stay updated with PMD announcements and exercise caution while traveling in fog-prone areas.
