Punjab to Witness More Rains with Gaps Ahead

Islamabad, March 14, 2025 – Rains are expected to persist across various districts of Punjab over the next 24 hours, with occasional gaps providing brief relief from wet conditions.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly weather system continues to influence most parts of the country, particularly Punjab, and is expected to linger over the upper regions until Sunday. Under this prevailing weather pattern, intermittent rains accompanied by gusty winds are anticipated in multiple districts, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Noorpur Thal, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, and Sheikhupura on Friday night. Additionally, cloudy conditions with light rain and possible light snowfall are forecasted for Murree and Galliyat, while Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur may experience light showers at isolated locations.

As the system progresses, further rains with gusty winds are expected in Punjab on Saturday. The affected areas will include Murree, Galliyat, and isolated locations in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Noorpur Thal, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, and Sheikhupura. Light rain is also forecasted for parts of Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur, further extending the wet spell across the province.

Lahore is expected to see temperatures ranging between 16°C and 18°C on Saturday and Sunday, while Monday’s minimum temperature may hover between 15°C and 17°C. The overall weather conditions in Punjab will remain cool due to the widespread rains.

Over the past 24 hours, intermittent rains with gusty winds have been reported in several central and southern Punjab districts, while other regions experienced partly cloudy skies. Significant rainfall recorded includes Noorpur Thal with 38mm, Joharabad and Sargodha with 9mm, Chakwal with 7mm, Hafizabad with 6mm, and Gujrat, Okara, and Khanewal with 1mm each.

Murree remained the coldest area in Punjab, with a minimum temperature recorded at 3°C and relative humidity in the evening at 81%. Lahore experienced a minimum temperature of 17°C, with relative humidity recorded at 45% in the evening. The ongoing rains will likely maintain cooler temperatures across Punjab in the coming days.
