Samsung Galaxy S, Z Fold7 Prices May Rise Amid RAM Shortage

IT & Telecom

Samsung may soon raise smartphone prices in Europe due to increasing RAM and memory chip costs. According to a new report from Greece, the South Korean tech giant is preparing to increase prices on several premium Galaxy smartphones starting in June.

The expected price hike comes as global memory chip prices continue to rise, creating pressure on smartphone manufacturers worldwide. Until now, major companies such as Samsung and Apple managed to absorb the extra costs through supply chain optimization and cost-cutting measures in other areas.

However, the latest industry trends suggest that such strategies may no longer be enough.

Galaxy S and Foldable Phones Could Get €100 Increase

The report claims that Samsung is considering a price increase of around €100 for some of its flagship smartphones in Europe. Devices expected to be affected include the upcoming Galaxy S series models as well as the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7.

It remains unclear whether the price increase will apply only to the base storage variants or extend to higher storage configurations as well. Industry observers believe premium storage options could also become more expensive due to rising memory costs.

The move would mark one of Samsung’s most noticeable pricing adjustments in recent years for its premium smartphone lineup.

Global Memory Shortage Impacts Smartphone Industry

Analysts have already warned that the second half of the year could see a broader rise in smartphone prices because of ongoing memory shortages. Demand for RAM and storage chips has surged due to the rapid growth of artificial intelligence devices, cloud computing, and high-performance consumer electronics.

As one of the world’s largest memory chip manufacturers, Samsung is directly exposed to fluctuations in semiconductor pricing. Even though the company produces many of its own components, the rising cost of advanced memory technologies is affecting production expenses.

Consumers May See Higher Smartphone Prices Soon

Samsung may not be the only smartphone maker increasing prices in the coming months. Other Android brands and even premium smartphone manufacturers could follow a similar strategy if memory chip shortages continue.

For consumers planning to upgrade to a flagship smartphone later this year, the coming months could bring noticeably higher prices across the market.
