New Visa credit card offers up to 5% cashback on Samsung purchases and a $200 welcome bonus.
Samsung has launched the Galaxy Card in the United States, introducing its first branded credit card in the market as it seeks to compete with Apple’s financial services ecosystem.
The new credit card, developed in partnership with Barclays US Consumer Bank and Visa, offers cashback rewards on eligible purchases and will be available as both a physical metal card featuring Samsung’s black logo and a virtual card.
Applications for the Galaxy Card will open on July 22, with eligible customers able to apply online or through Samsung retail stores across the United States.
To attract early adopters, Samsung is offering a $200 welcome bonus to new cardholders who spend $2,000 within the first 90 days of opening their account.
The Galaxy Card provides tiered cashback rewards across different spending categories. Cardholders can earn 5% cashback on eligible Samsung purchases, 3% cashback on transactions completed through Samsung Wallet, 2% cashback on eligible streaming services, and 1% cashback on all other qualifying purchases.
Samsung is also extending additional benefits through its VIP programme. Galaxy Card users will receive a 20% discount on Samsung VIP Advantage, alongside 5% cashback when purchasing or renewing a VIP Advantage membership.
The launch marks Samsung’s latest effort to strengthen its ecosystem by combining hardware, digital payments and financial services into a single customer experience.
The move also places Samsung in more direct competition with Apple, which introduced the Apple Card in 2019. Apple’s credit card has become an important part of its services business by integrating closely with the iPhone and Apple Wallet.
By offering rewards tied to Samsung devices, Samsung Wallet and premium membership services, the company hopes to encourage greater customer loyalty while expanding the use of its digital payment platform.
The Galaxy Card represents another step in Samsung’s strategy to build an integrated ecosystem that extends beyond smartphones and consumer electronics into financial products and digital services.
