Islamabad, March 18, 2025 – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) for Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, met with Hiroshi Kawamura, CEO of Pak Suzuki, to explore opportunities for expanding industrial and trade cooperation between Pakistan and Japan.
The meeting focused on fostering deeper collaboration in the automotive sector and enhancing economic ties between the two nations.
During the discussions, Hiroshi Kawamura congratulated SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan on his appointment and expressed optimism about strengthening bilateral trade relations. He reaffirmed Pak Suzuki’s commitment to expanding its operations in Pakistan, emphasizing the country’s strategic importance as a growing automotive market.
SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan highlighted the significance of Pakistan as a key market for Pak Suzuki and underscored the importance of continued investment in the local automotive industry. He reiterated the government’s commitment to facilitating foreign investment and fostering an environment conducive to innovation and industrial expansion.
A major aspect of the meeting was Pakistan’s focus on sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions, aligning with the Prime Minister’s “Uraan” vision, which promotes green energy initiatives. SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan welcomed Pak Suzuki’s initiative to establish a Biogas Plant in Manga Mandi, recognizing its potential contribution to sustainable energy development in Pakistan.
The SAPM and CEO also discussed ethanol fuel integration in vehicles, engine compatibility, and the importance of enhancing local auto part production. SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized the need for increased localization in auto manufacturing to strengthen Pakistan’s industrial base. He further stressed that collaboration on bio-gas and electric vehicle (EV) projects between Pakistan and Japan would pave the way for technological advancements and cleaner energy solutions.
