Shipping Activity at Port Qasim on December 18, 2023

Karachi, December 18, 2023 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released details of shipping activity for Monday, December 18, 2023, providing insights into the bustling maritime operations at one of Pakistan’s key ports.

Three prominent vessels, namely MSC Prelude V, Stamina SW, and Serengeti, were scheduled to load/offload Container, Rice, and Gas oil at the Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, and Oil Terminal, respectively, on Sunday. The efficiency of the port operations was underscored by the fact that a total of five ships were engaged at PQA berths in the last 24 hours.

Among the arrivals at the Outer Anchorage on the same day were two additional ships – Clean Sanctuary and Kamome Victoria. These vessels were slated to unload Petroleum Products, adding to the diverse array of goods being handled at the port.

Providing a snapshot of the cargo activity, the Port Qasim Authority reported a cargo volume of 51,084 tonnes during the last 24 hours. This cargo included 23,682 tonnes of imported goods and 27,402 tonnes of exported cargo. The efficient handling of these goods was made possible by the loading and unloading of 1,114 containers, comprising 151 TEUs of imports and 963 TEUs of exports.

In terms of departures and arrivals, the containership ‘MSC Prelude V’ left the port on the morning of December 18, while another ship, ‘Agios Porfyrios,’ is expected to sail in the afternoon of the same day. These movements reflect the dynamic nature of maritime trade at Port Qasim.

Looking ahead, the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim is currently hosting seven ships, each with distinct cargoes and destinations. The ‘Sakizaya Star,’ an edible oil carrier, is among them. Five more vessels – MSC Pamela, Maersk Brooklyn, Al-Bida, Limra, and Indigo Cefiro – are anticipated to take berths at various terminals for handling Canola Seed, Containers, LNG, LPG, and Coal.

Tomorrow’s agenda includes the arrival of two Container ships, Maersk Kinloss, and Northern Javelin, highlighting the continuous flow of maritime traffic and the strategic importance of Port Qasim as a vital gateway for trade and commerce.
