Strong shipping activity continues at Port Qasim – May 3, 2025

Karachi, May 3, 2025 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) reported another day of high shipping activity on Saturday, with several vessels arriving, departing, and shifting berths at the busy seaport.

The daily update, released at 8:00 AM, covered the past 24 hours and is part of PQA’s efforts to ensure transparency and smooth coordination among stakeholders.

According to the report, the Port experienced significant activity as seven vessels departed, including tankers, container ships, and bulk carriers. Notable among them were M.T-KK MARLIN, which carried high-speed diesel oil, and M.V-VOLISSOS and M.V-THOR MAGNHILD, both loaded with coal. Another ship, M.V-ANDREAS-K, was transporting a large shipment of rice. The LPG tanker M.T-KAISA I also sailed during the day.

On the arrivals side, Port Qasim saw the berthing of vessels carrying different types of cargo. M.V-XPRESS KOHIMA arrived to handle container shipping, while M.V-FALMOUTH BAY brought in a load of coal. The tanker M.T-SOUTHERN WOLF also berthed with a consignment of paraxylene, a chemical used in manufacturing.

In addition to arrivals and departures, the report also listed vessel movements within the Port. One of the vessels, M.V-ARIADNI, carrying rice, was shifted from one berth to another to make space and maintain operational flow. This kind of internal shipping activity ensures that the Port remains efficient and avoids delays.

Port Qasim, located near Karachi, is a vital hub for Pakistan’s maritime trade. The steady shipping activity reported by the Port Qasim Authority highlights its role in supporting import and export operations. With container ships, oil tankers, and bulk carriers moving in and out daily, the Port continues to operate at full pace.

Such frequent and organized activity at Port Qasim underlines the importance of the terminal in Pakistan’s economy. Stakeholders, including shipping lines, agents, and traders, benefit from timely information about vessel movements, enabling them to plan better and reduce turnaround times.

As shipping activity remains strong, Port Qasim is expected to continue playing a central role in handling Pakistan’s growing trade demands in the days ahead.
