Pakistan delivered a clinical performance to secure a series-clinching 10-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the second T20 international in Bulawayo on Tuesday. The match showcased Pakistan’s supremacy with both ball and bat, as they overwhelmed the hosts to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
The hero of the match was wrist-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, who produced a phenomenal spell, dismantling Zimbabwe’s batting lineup with figures of 5-3. His devastating performance reduced Zimbabwe to a paltry 57 all out in just 12.4 overs, despite the home side’s promising start. Openers Brian Bennett (21) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (16) were the only Zimbabwe batters to reach double figures before Muqeem triggered a spectacular collapse. Zimbabwe lost their last 10 wickets for just 20 runs, leaving them reeling.
Pakistan’s reply was emphatic. Openers Saim Ayub and Omair Yousuf made quick work of the chase, racing to 61 without loss in just 5.3 overs. Ayub smashed an unbeaten 36, while Yousuf contributed 22 not out, as Pakistan claimed victory in style.
This comprehensive win comes on the heels of Pakistan’s 57-run triumph in the first T20I on Sunday and completes a dominant white-ball double following their 2-1 victory in the preceding ODI series.
Speaking after the match, Pakistan captain Salman Agha praised his team’s execution and Muqeem’s standout performance. “Losing the toss didn’t bother us; we had our plans and executed them brilliantly. Sufiyan’s bowling was exceptional, and it’s heartening to see such quality performances from our young players,” Agha said.
Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, however, lamented his team’s repeated mistakes. “We’re all hurting and in a bad place right now. My biggest concern is whether we’re learning from these defeats because the same errors keep happening,” Raza admitted.
The final T20I is scheduled for Thursday, giving Pakistan an opportunity to complete a clean sweep. Afterward, the team will head to South Africa for a challenging eight-match tour, featuring Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, aiming to carry forward their momentum.
