    KARACHI: Muhammad Zahid Khokhar, a BS-22 officer of the Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) and Director General of Transit Trade, passed away on Monday morning due to complications related to the coronavirus (COVID-19). He was one of the most senior and respected officers in the PCS and had only recently been promoted to the rank of BS-22.

    Three FBR officers promoted to BS-22

    KARACHI: The establishment division on Friday notified promotion of three senior officials of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to BS-22 with immediate effect.

    According to notification issued by the FBR, two officers of Inland Revenue Service (IRS) and one officer of Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) have been promoted to BS-22 from BS-21.

    The government has promoted IRS officers included: Khawaja Adnan Zahir and Ms. Fareena Mazhar.

    Fareena Mazhar has been promoted with effect from July 20, 2020.

    In PCS, Muhammad Zahid has been promoted to BS-22. He is presently serving as Director General (BS-21), Directorate General of Transit Trade, Karachi, which is now upgraded as Director General (BS-22), Directorate General of Transit Trade, Karachi.

    Pakistan Customs cadre strength (BS-17-22) increases to 501

    ISLAMABAD: The cadre strength, which includes officers of BS-17 to BS-22, of Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) has increased to 501 by May 06, 2020, according to a notification issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Thursday.

    The number of senior officers of Pakistan Customs has increased by 25 from 476 on August 21, 2019.

    As per latest cadre strength, there are two officers of PCS presently working. The number of officers in BS-21 are 25. Further BS-20 officers are 71.

    The number of BS-19 are 140, BS-18 are 156 and BS-17 are 107 working across Pakistan.

    IRS cadre strength increases to 1,254

    ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is working with 1,254 officers of Inland Revenue Service (IRS) of BS-17 to BS-22, according to a notification issued on Wednesday.

    The FBR said that consequent upon the approval of the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the creation of additional posts in Inland Revenue Service conveyed vide letter dated June 29, 2019, cadre strength of IRS under administrative control of FBR with effect from June 29, 2019 will be as under:

    BS-22: 05

    BS-21: 51

    BS-20: 177

    BS-19: 256

    BS-18: 383

    BS-17: 382

    The prime minister approved creation of 25 additional posts in IRS including BS-21 07, BS21 07, BS-19 01, BS-18 06 and BS-17 04.

    The FBR also sent a communication to Accountant General of Pakistan for arranging financial expenditures for such posts.
