    KARACHI: The Pak Rupee ended firmer against the dollar on Thursday owing to better inflows to meet demand for import payments.

    The rupee ended at Rs161.89 to the dollar from previous day’s closing of Rs161.90 in the interbank foreign exchange market.

    Currency experts said that the market had seen dollar demand for import payments. However, supply of the foreign currency was sufficient to meet the demand.

    KARACHI: The Pak Rupee fell by 57 paisas against the dollar on Wednesday as demand for the foreign currency remained higher during the day.

    The rupee ended at Rs161.90 to the dollar from the previous day’s closing of Rs161.33 in the interbank foreign exchange market.

    Currency experts said that the market witnessed higher demand for dollars due to rise in international oil prices.

    The local unit has remained under pressure since the start of the current fiscal year due to higher fiscal deficit posted for the month of June 2021.

    KARACHI: The Pak Rupee recovered Rs1.09 against the dollar on Monday. The sharp recovery can be attributed to significant increase in foreign exchange reserves.

    The rupee ended at Rs161.23 to the dollar from last Friday’s closing of Rs162.32 in the interbank foreign exchange market.

    The foreign exchange reserves of the country reached $25.128 billion after transfer of $1.04 billion against the proceeds of Eurobond, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

    Currency experts said that latest measures to impose restrictions for preventing coronavirus spread also helped the rupee to make gains.

    KARACHI: The Pak Rupee ended down by 84 paisas against the dollar on Friday. The local currency fell due to higher demand of the foreign currency after Eid holidays.

    The rupee closed at Rs162.32 to the dollar in interbank foreign exchange market. The local unit previously closed at Rs161.48 in last trading on July 19, 2021.

    The market opened after three holidays. It observed holidays from July 20, 2021 to July 22, 2021 on account of Eid ul Adha.

    The experts said the rupee fell to nine months low against the dollar.  The rupee lost value around Rs4.78 against the dollar since July 01, 2021.

    Currency experts said that the dollar demand for imports remained higher owing to three holidays announced by government for Eid ul Adha.

    The rupee has lost around Rs3.61 against the foreign currency since the start of the current month.

    During the day the SBP announced to receive $1 billion as proceeds of Eurobond auctioned by the government of Pakistan.

    KARACHI: The Pak Rupee depreciated by 15 paisas against the dollar on Tuesday owing to higher demand for import payment.

    The rupee ended at Rs159.51 to the dollar from the previous day’s closing of Rs159.36 in the interbank foreign exchange market.

    Currency experts said that the rupee remained under pressure due to higher demand for import payment.

    They said that the market had responded earlier in the day due to reports of record inflows of workers remittances.

    The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) earlier in the day announced the details of remittances. The remittances rose to a historic annual high of $29.4 billion in the fiscal year 2020/2021. The remittances registered a substantial 27 per cent growth in the fiscal year 2020/2021 over the preceding fiscal year.
