    OGDCL discovers gas reserves in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

    KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Tuesday announced the discovery of natural gas in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

    In a communication shared with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the OGDCL said that the company being operator of Wali Exploration License with 100 per cent working interest had made a gas and condensate discovery over Hangu Formation from its exploratory efforts at Wali #01 well which is located in FR Lakki, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan.

    “Wali# 01 was spudded-in on December 02, 2019, as an exploratory well and drilled down to a total depth of 4727m (measured depth) inside Kawagarh Formation. Based on the good oil/gas shows during drilling, interpretation of open whole logs data, successful testing was carried out in Kawagarh formation, which proved to be gas/condensate discovery.”

    Now, Drill Stem Test (DST) # 02 has been performed in Hangu Formation. The well flowed at the rate of 11.361 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) gas and 895 Barrels per Day (BPD) condensate with Well Head Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 2800 Pounds per Square Inch (PSI) at 32/64” choke size.

    It is highlighted that this gas/condensate discovery has further extended the hydrocarbon play area on the southwestern part of the Bannu Basin.

    OGDCL being the leading Exploration & Production Company in Pakistan has adopted an aggressive exploration strategy which has resulted in hydrocarbons discoveries.

    “This discovery will add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of OGDCL and of the country. It will positively contribute to mitigating energy demand and supply gap from indigenous resources,” the company said, adding that the company would continue to strive for increasing shareholders’ value through a robust exploration program.

    KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Authority (OGDCL) on Monday announced gas discovery at Jandran X-04 located in District Barkhan, Balochistan Province.

    The company said that the structure of Jandran X-04 was delineated, drilled and tested using OGDCL’s in house expertise.

    “The well was drilled down to the depth of 1200m into Parh Limestone. Based on Wireline logs data, successfully DST was carried out in Mughal Kot Formation wherein the Well tested 7.08 Million Standard Cubic Feet Per Day (MMSCFD) gas and 0.55 Barrels Per Day (BPD) condensate with Well Head Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 1300 Pounds Per Square Inch (Psi) at 32/64” Choke size.”

    The OGDCL said that the discovery of Jandran X-04 is the result of aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company. “It has opened a new avenue and would add to the hydrocarbon reserves of OGDCL and the country.”

    OGDCL announces gas discovery in Balochistan

    KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Friday announced discovery of natural gas from its well located in the province of Balochistan.

    In a communication sent to Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company – as 100 percent operator – informed that it had discovered gas from its exploratory well Kakhirud X-1 located in District Musa Khel, Balochistan Province.

    The structure of Lakhirud X-1 was drilled and tested using OGDCL in-house expertise. The well was drilled down to the depth of 3000 meters. Based on logs data, the well was tested at rate of 2.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas 18 barrels per day (BPD) of water through 32/64” choke at wellhead flowing pressure of 600 pounds per square inch (Psi) from Mughal Kot Formation.

    “The discovery of Lakhirud X-1 has opened a new avenue and would add to the hydrocarbons reserves base of OGDCL,” the company said.

    KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Friday announced discovery of gas in the exploratory well located in Khairpur Sindh.

    In an information shared with Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company announced that the joint venture of Ranipur Block comprising OGDCL as operator (95 percent), Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL) (2.5 percent and Sindh Energy Holding Company (Private) Limited (SEHCL) (2.5 percent had discovered gas and condensate in the exploratory well Metlo 01, which is located in District Khairpur, Sindh Province.

    The OGDCL said that the Metlo-1 was spud on November 17, 2019 and reach a depth of 1504 meters inside Upper Goru Formation. Based on wireline logs, drill stem test (DST) was conducted in Ranikot Formation and Sui Main Limestone.

    The well has tested 1.85 million cubit feet per day of gas, 6 barrels per day of condensate and 38 barrels of water through 32/64” choke at well head flowing pressure of 285 pounds per square inch (Psi) from lower Ranikot Formation.

    The discovery of Metlo-1 is the result of aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company. “This discovery will add to the hydrocarbons reserves of OGDCL, GHPL, SEHCL and of the country and will contribute in reducing the gap between supply and demand of oil and gas in the country through the exploitation of indigenous resources.

    Pakistan’s oil, gas reserves witness increase

    KARACHI: Pakistan’s oil and gas reserves have witnessed increase by 7 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively, according to analysts at Topline Research.

    The analysts on Thursday said that Pakistan Petroleum Information Services (PPIS) had reported oil and gas reserves for Jun 2019, whereby few major fields of Tal block (operated by MOL Pakistan) have witnessed an upward adjustment in which Pakistan Oil Fields (POL), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Oil and Gas development (OGDC) have working interest of 21 percent, 28 percent and 28 percent respectively.

    Overall oil reserves of the country are up by 7 percent (excluding PEL reserves) to 286 million barrels (10 years) mainly on back of upward adjustment in fields of Tal block and Adhi.

    Maramzai and Mardankhel fields (belongs to Tal Block) have seen increase of 42 percent and 89 percent respectively in their recoverable oil reserves. Increase in reserves have extended fields life by 1-3 years, as per estimates.

    Adhi South reserves are also separately reported, whereby overall Adhi field oil reserves are up 70 percent to 25.9 million barrels. Field life due to incremental reserves is up by around 3 years.

    Gas reserves of the country are up by meagre 1 percent to 21tcf (15 years). Field wise, reserves from Adhi, Marmazai, Mardankhel, Makori East, and Manzalai are increased by 12-132 percent. These incremental reserves will help companies to continue their production for 1-3 years more.

    OGDCL discovers huge gas reserves in Khyber PakhtoonKhwa

    KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Tuesday announced huge amount of gas discovery and condensate from exploratory well at Kohat, Khyber PakhtoonKhwa.

    In a notification to Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and London Stock Exchange Plc., the company said that the joint venture of Kohat E.L. comprising OGDCL as operator (50 percent), Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) (33.33 percent) and Saif Energy Limited (SEL) (16.67) percent, has discovered gas and condensate from its exploratory efforts at Well Togh-01, which is located in district Kohat, Khyber PakhtoonKhwa Province.

    Togh Well#01 was drilled and tested using OGDCL’s in house expertise in consultation with Kohat Joint Ventures MPCL and Saif Energy. “The well was drilled down to the depth of 3200 meters. The well was tested at the rate of 12.7 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) gas, 240BPD condensate through choke size 32/64” at well head flowing pressure 2478 Pounds per Squre Inch (Psi) from Lumshiwal formation.

    The company said that the discovery of Togh Well # 01 is the result of aggressive exploration strategy adopted by Kohat the Joint Venture. It has opened a new avenue and would add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of the OGDCL, Joint Venture partners and of the country.
