    Sindh Excise collects Rs5.44 billion in July

    KARACHI: Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has collected Rs5.44 billion during the first month of current fiscal year 2020/2021, a statement said on Monday.

    Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla in the statement said that the department had collected a total of Rs 5.442 billion in the current financial year 2020-2021 during the month of July.

    He further said that Rs.878.709 million was collected under motor vehicle tax, Rs.4141.677 million under infrastructure tax and Rs.67.807 million under professional tax.

    He said that Rs 2.861 million was collected in cotton fee, Rs 34.827 million in property tax and Rs 0.022 million in entertainment duty.

    He said that the overall situation of collection of taxes was better. However, he directed the officers to work harder and improve the tax collection situation.

    Provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla also requested the people, being law abiding citizens, they were supposed to deposit their taxes on time.

    Sindh allows people to check number of vehicles registered on CNIC

    KARACHI: Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has introduced online facility for the citizens to check number of vehicles registered with their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).

    The facility has been introduced in order to curb misuse of identity and assuring people for having ownership of the vehicles.

    Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control & Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar announced the facility. He said that the facility has been introduced for the convenience of the people under which any person can now know the number of vehicles registered on his CNIC number and for this purpose, one should log on to the website www.excise.gos.pk.

    He added that the facility would be provided soon via SMS.

    The provincial minister said that people should avail this facility. “Facilitating the people is the top priority of the Sindh Excise Department,” he concluded.

    Sindh collects Rs4.77 billion as motor vehicle tax

    KARACHI: The Sindh government has collected Rs4.77 billion as motor vehicle tax during first eight months (July – February) 2019/2020.

    This was informed at a meeting presided over by Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation – Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla on Friday.

    At the meeting the provincial minister directed the officers to ensure timely and complete recovery of taxes and especially to speed up the collection of property tax and motor vehicle tax.

    The meeting was also attended by Secretary Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Abdul Rahim Sheikh, Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers.

    Briefing the meeting, Director General Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that Rs. 651.480 million was collected in the month of February in term of motor vehicle tax.

    He further stated that Rs. 4036.314 million from Karachi, Rs 340.999 million from Hyderabad and Rs 199.325 million from Sukkur while Rs 74.183 million was received from Shaheed Benazirbad, Rs 75.943 million from Larkana and Rs 43.399 million from Mirpur Khas as motor vehicle tax.

    Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla directed the officers to pay special attention to motor vehicle tax collection and a comprehensive road checking campaign should be launched as soon as possible to collect the tax from the tax defaulting vehicles.

    He said that officers who failed to meet the tax targets would be taken to task and no negligence would be tolerated in the collection of taxes.

    KARACHI: The officials of Sindh excise and taxation have been directed to ensure recovery of motor vehicle tax from government authorities.

    Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla has asked the officers to boost-up their efforts for the recovery of Government’s dues regarding motor vehicle tax from Government, Semi-Government, Autonomous Bodies and Organizations and no lethargic attitude will be tolerated in this regard.

    This he said while presiding over a meeting here in his office today. Secretary Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Abdul Halim Shaikh, Director General ET & NC Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Additional Director Admn/MVR Nasir Effandi and other officers also attended the meeting.

    In the meeting overall performance of the Deputy Directors/Excise and Taxation Officers of Motor Registration Wing was reviewed in detail.

    He directed the Assistant Director Computer-I MRW to cooperate with all Deputy Directors/ETOs in providing requisite computerized data. Provincial minister for ET & NC & Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla also directed to launch Road Checking Campaign to nab the tax defaulting vehicles.

    He added, ‘Recovery of the taxes is very important and it shows the performance of the officers as well and we must come upto the expectations of the people’.

    Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that during last fiscal year Sindh Excise Department recovered more than 100% tax recovery and hopefully this year too we would also achieve more than our tax targets, he concluded.

    Sindh Excise impounds 250 vehicles in campaign against tax defaulters

    KARACHI: Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has impounded 250 vehicles in its ongoing campaign against tax defaulting motor vehicles, a statement said on Thursday.

    Documents of around 450 vehicles have also been confiscated for various reasons. The department also recovered Rs4.4 million as provincial tax in this exercise, which will continue till January 02, 2020.

    As many as 7043 vehicles have been checked during the first two days of Road Checking Campaign of the excise department, Sindh, against tax defaulting vehicles under the direction of the provincial minister for Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla.

    During the campaign so far 250 vehicles were seized for various reasons the documents of 450 vehicles were also confiscated and in total tax and penalty amounted to over Rs 4.4 million was collected.

    According to the details, 1999 vehicles were checked in Karachi, 1884 vehicles in Hyderabad, 1115 in Sukkur, 987 in Larkana, 680 in Mirpur Khas and 378 vehicles in Shaheed Benazirabad.

    For various reasons, papers of 180 vehicles in Karachi, 105 in Hyderabad, 31 in Sukkur, 66 in Larkana, 28 in Mirpur Khas and 40 in Shaheed Benazir Abad were confiscated while Rs 7825 in Karachi, Rs 1308638 in Hyderabad, Rs 616937 in Sukkur, Rs 1125696 in Larkana, Rs 500647 in Mirpur Khas and Rs 850737 in Shaheed Benazirabad were collected in the form of taxes and fines.

    Meanwhile the Minister for Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, in a statement issued here on Thursday, has said that the road checking campaign for tax collection from the owners of tax defaulting vehicles will continue till January 2 and the owners of tax defaulting vehicles should deposit their taxes in a timely manner to avoid any unpleasant situation on the roads.

    “Timely payment of taxes is our national duty, and in doing so, we prove ourselves as a law abiding citizen,” he concluded.

    KARACHI: Sindh Excise and Taxation Department is finalize arrangements for launching a drive against tax defaulting motor vehicles from December 23, 2019.

    Teams have been constituted to launch the drive against tax defaulting motor vehicles across the province.

    This decision was made at a meeting, chaired by the Minister of Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs, Mukesh Kumar Chawla.

    The meeting was also attended by Secretary Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Director General Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers.

    Giving the briefing to the meeting, Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that a massive public awareness campaign had been launched through media so that they could deposit their taxes in a timely manner and on the occasion of the road checking campaign, tax defaulting vehicles would be confiscated and the vehicles would be returned only after payment of due taxes and the arrears.

    Addressing the meeting, the Minister for Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, advised the owners of the vehicles to transfer the vehicles into their names immediately after purchasing the vehicle because driving on open litter is a crime.

    He added that if the vehicle was used in a crime, then the person whose name was at that time, would be considered legally the original owner while there were 15 branches of National Bank of Pakistan for the convenience of the people to deposit their due taxes have been assigned and the details of these branches are posted on the department’s website and published in newspapers as well.

    On this occasion DG Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui told that National Bank Branches were at Awami Markaz, Clifton, Site Area, Nazimabad, Shahbaz Building Hyderabad, Millat Road, Korangi Industrial Area, M.A. Jinnah, Dinsu Hall, Fatima Road Jinnah Road Hyderabad, DHA, PIDC, I.I Chandigarh Road, Gulshan and High Court.

    He also directed the officers/officials to remain polite with the owners of the vehicles but strict in implementing the law as he would not tolerate any lethargic attitude in this regard.

    KARACHI: Following are the motor vehicle tax rates issued by Sindh Excise and Taxation Department for various categories of locally manufactured vehicles.

    (a) i)

    ii) Motorcycle/Scooter not already registered not more than 149 cc

    Motorcycle/Scooter 150cc and above: Rs. 1800/- once for all

    Rs. 3000 once for all

    (b) Motorcycle/Scooter already registered and since first registration, the vehicle 

    i Has not completed 5 years Rs. 600/- once for all or Rs. 80/- per annum

    ii Has completed 5 years but not completed 10 years Rs.300/- once for all or Rs.80/- per annum

    iii Has completed 10 years but not completed 15 years Rs. 100/- once for all or Rs. 80/- per annum

    (c) i Motor cars/Jeeps etc (Non-Commercial) having engine capacity up to 1000cc not already registered Rs.20000/-once for all

    ii Motor cars /jeeps etc (Non-Commercial) having engine capacity upto 1000 cc already registered having up to tax payment and since first registration the vehicles

    Following are the luxury tax for the imported vehicles at the time of registration:
