Islamabad, September 10, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory predicting a thunderstorm at isolated places in north eastern Punjab on Monday, September 11, 2023.
While most parts of the country are expected to experience hot and dry conditions, the northern regions, including Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas, may witness rain, wind, and thunderstorms.
According to the PMD, the prevailing synoptic conditions indicate the presence of continental air over most parts of Pakistan. This air mass has contributed to the hot and humid weather that has dominated the region over the past 24 hours.
Rainfall was recorded in various parts of the country during this period, with significant amounts reported in several areas:
Punjab: Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 30mm, Chaklala 20mm, Kacheri 08mm)

Sialkot: Airport 21mm, City 12mm
Lahore Airport: 06mm

Gujranwala and Mangla: 01mm
As for the highest recorded maximum temperatures in the country today, Dadu topped the list with 44°C, followed closely by Khairpur, Nawabshah, and Nokkundi at 43°C.
The Met Office advises residents in the affected regions to stay updated with the latest weather alerts and take necessary precautions as thunderstorms can bring heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and lightning. It is essential to be prepared for possible disruptions to daily activities and ensure safety measures are in place.
The PMD will continue to monitor the weather situation closely and provide timely updates as the thunderstorm approaches the north eastern regions of Punjab.
