Tito Jackson, a founding member of the legendary Jackson 5 and brother of the late Michael Jackson, has died at the age of 70.
His nephew, Siggy Jackson, confirmed the news to People magazine following an initial report from Entertainment Tonight. Tito passed away on Sunday, September 15, after suffering a heart attack.
Tito, along with his brothers Jackie and Marlon, was recently performing as part of The Jacksons, continuing the musical legacy they built together. Over the summer of 2024, The Jacksons graced stages across California, England, and Scotland, delighting fans with energetic performances.
Their most recent concert took place on September 8 in Surrey, England. The group had two more shows lined up in the U.S., scheduled for October 25 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and November 1 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Just days before his passing, Tito had visited Munich, Germany, with his brothers to honor the memory of their beloved brother Michael.
The visit included a stop at a memorial dedicated to Michael, further connecting Tito to his family’s enduring musical legacy.
As an original member of The Jackson 5, Tito played a pivotal role in the group’s success. The band, which also featured brothers Michael, Jackie, Jermaine, and Marlon, became a global sensation in the 1970s with chart-topping hits like “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” and “I’ll Be There.” Younger brother Randy later joined the group, solidifying their place in music history.
In recognition of their contributions to music, The Jackson 5 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Additionally, they were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, ensuring their legacy would live on.
