Tom Hardy is opening up about the intense physical toll his action-packed career has taken on his body after decades of demanding roles and extreme transformations. Known for immersing himself fully in every character, the 48-year-old actor revealed that years of stunts, fight scenes, and rapid muscle gains have left him with multiple long-term injuries.
Speaking candidly, Hardy shared that he has undergone two knee surgeries and suffers from a herniated disc, sciatica, a pulled hip tendon, and severe plantar fasciitis. Describing the accumulated damage, he admitted, “It’s all falling to bits now, and it’s not going to get better.”
Despite the pain, Hardy has continued to push himself physically for high-intensity roles. His performance as Eddie Brock in the Venom trilogy required grueling action sequences and intense stunt work. Over the years, he has also famously transformed his body for several films — gaining 35 pounds in just five weeks for Bronson and building an imposing physique to play Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.
Hardy reflected on the long-term impact of these extreme changes, noting that rapid training and drastic weight fluctuations can leave lasting damage. “Your body suffers when you go really hard on yourself,” he said, acknowledging the price of his dedication.
Fatherhood has also influenced Hardy’s view of his lifestyle and future choices. With one son from a previous relationship and two children with his wife, actress Charlotte Riley, the Capone star said being a parent has grounded him and given him new purpose, making him more mindful of his health.
In 2025, Hardy remained in demand, starring in the action film Havoc as detective Walker and leading the series MobLand, where he portrayed street-smart fixer Harry Da Souza. Even as he navigates chronic injuries, Hardy continues to balance his passion for bold roles with a growing awareness of his body’s limits.
