Actor Tom Holland said giving up alcohol has had a positive impact on both his personal well-being and professional career, after previously struggling with its effects.

Speaking to USA Today, Holland said alcohol had once compounded the pressures of working in the public eye.

“Being an actor and living your life on the big stage can be really stressful,” he said. “I think that alcohol, for me personally, really compounded that issue.”

Holland, who decided to quit drinking in 2022, said the change has helped him feel more confident and focused.

“Since getting rid of the booze and feeling more like myself and waking up clear-headed every day, I just feel so much more confident in myself as who I am as a person,” he added.

The actor said alcohol had been “getting in the way” of his professional life, suggesting that his decision to stop drinking has contributed to his recent success.

Holland noted that his career has “blossomed” in recent years, with several high-profile projects and growing opportunities.

“I’ve been so lucky in the last four years that my career has really blossomed in a really lovely way,” he said, adding that he is optimistic about future projects.

Holland is set to reprise his role as Spider-Man in the upcoming film Spider-Man Brand New Day, scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.
