Karachi, November 28, 2024 – The Consul General (CG) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bakheet Ateeq Al Rumeithi, celebrated the 53rd National Day of the UAE at an event organized by the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), emphasizing the deep-rooted friendship between the UAE and Pakistan.
Addressing attendees, Al Rumeithi highlighted the enduring bond between the two nations. “The UAE and Pakistan share a friendship that stands as a global example of unity and cooperation,” he remarked. Expressing gratitude, he praised KCCI for celebrating Eid ul Ittihad, the UAE’s National Day, and reaffirmed the UAE Consulate’s commitment to facilitating Karachi’s business community.
Prominent figures attending the event included Chairman BMG Zubair Motiwala, Vice Chairman BMG Anjum Nisar, KCCI President Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, and former KCCI presidents.
Al Rumeithi acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to the UAE’s development, particularly the pivotal role played by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in the creation of Emirates Airlines. He noted that Pakistanis remain integral to the UAE’s growth, stating, “For us, Pakistan is like a mentor, guiding us prudently at every step.” Praising Karachi’s hospitable community, he added, “We stand in solidarity with Karachi’s people and deeply value their warm celebrations of our National Day.”
The CG also emphasized the UAE Consulate’s focus on expediting visa processes for Pakistani business professionals, ensuring seamless interaction with their UAE counterparts.
Chairman BMG Zubair Motiwala reflected on the UAE’s significance as home to 2 million Pakistanis, whose remittances contribute substantially to Pakistan’s economy. He highlighted untapped trade potential, stressing that Pakistan’s exports to the UAE could expand from the current $31 billion to $100 billion through partnerships, innovation, and enhanced productivity.
He urged Pakistan to explore opportunities in technology transfer, AI, and IT, citing the success of over 50,000 Pakistani IT professionals in the UAE as an example of bilateral cooperation. Motiwala also underscored food security as a global challenge where Pakistan could excel by modernizing its agricultural practices.
KCCI President Jawed Bilwani extended congratulations to the UAE, praising its global success and vital role as one of Pakistan’s top investors. He emphasized the strong socio-economic ties and collaboration that have consistently strengthened bilateral relations.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to fostering deeper ties and exploring opportunities for mutual growth.
