Utility Stores Implements Massive Reduction in Oil and Ghee Prices from June 7

Islamabad, June 6, 2023: In a bid to provide significant relief to consumers ahead of the announcement of the Budget 2023-2024, the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has announced a massive reduction in the prices of edible oil and ghee, effective from June 7, 2023.

The decision comes on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, demonstrating the government’s commitment to easing the financial burden on the public.

According to a spokesperson from the USC, the prices of subsidized ghee have been slashed by an impressive Rs. 80 per kilogram. This reduction applies to all utility stores nationwide, ensuring that consumers across the country can benefit from the lowered prices. The corporation recognizes the importance of providing affordable and essential commodities to the public, and this price cut is a significant step towards achieving that goal. The move is expected to bring substantial relief to consumers who rely on ghee as a vital cooking ingredient.

To ensure transparency and widespread awareness, a formal notification has been issued by the Utility Stores Corporation. This notification serves as an official announcement, providing customers with clear information about the revised pricing structure. It further reinforces the government’s commitment to facilitating access to affordable commodities for all citizens, ensuring that the public remains informed about the latest developments.

The reduction in prices of subsidized ghee is applicable to all utility stores across the country. Previously, this essential cooking ingredient was sold at Rs. 490 per kilogram. However, with the revised prices, customers can now purchase subsidized ghee for only Rs. 410 per kilogram, marking a significant decrease of Rs. 80. This adjustment is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to households, particularly during these challenging economic times.

Furthermore, registered users under the Benazir Income Support Program will benefit even further, as ghee will be available to them at a lower price of Rs. 300 per kilogram. This program aims to support economically vulnerable individuals and families by offering essential commodities at subsidized rates. The reduced ghee prices through this program will contribute to easing the financial burdens of those in need, providing them with essential cooking ingredients at an affordable cost.

The Prime Minister’s Relief Package, implemented by the Utility Stores Corporation, goes beyond subsidized ghee. The corporation is also providing special subsidies on other essential commodities, including flour, sugar, rice, and pulses. By making these items more affordable, the government aims to alleviate the financial strain on the public, particularly during these challenging economic times. This comprehensive approach ensures that a wide range of essential items are accessible to the public at affordable prices.

Additionally, utility stores offer other branded items at significantly lower prices compared to the general market. This presents an opportunity for consumers to access quality products without straining their budgets. The Utility Stores Corporation’s commitment to providing affordable and high-quality commodities ensures that the public can conveniently and economically avail themselves of essential items, meeting their daily needs.

With the implementation of these massive price reductions, the Utility Stores Corporation aims to provide relief to the public and make essential commodities more accessible to all. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of creating a more economically stable and prosperous society, where every citizen can fulfill their basic needs without undue financial burden.
