Islamabad, March 6, 2025 – Karachi, the commercial and financial hub of Pakistan, is set to experience a significant rise in temperatures, according to a weather alert issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday.
The latest forecast warns that Karachi will face persistent heat over the next seven days, making fasting during Ramadan particularly challenging for residents.
The PMD spokesperson, Anjum Nazir, stated, “The sun will be prominent in Karachi over the next few days, and temperatures will gradually increase.” Karachi’s weather is expected to remain hot, with daytime temperatures projected to reach between 36 to 38 degrees Celsius. The weather department has indicated that a shift in conditions is likely after March 12, bringing some relief from the heat.
Currently, Karachi is experiencing partly cloudy and dry weather, with a prevailing temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. The winds are blowing from the northeast at a speed of 7 km per hour, and humidity levels are at 60%. The PMD’s daily forecast has also predicted a 2 to 3-degree Celsius increase in Karachi’s temperatures on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Karachi witnessed a brief spell of cooler weather due to a shift in wind direction. Dry northeastern winds have been blowing since Tuesday night, contributing to a temporary drop in temperatures. However, this respite is short-lived as Karachi’s weather is expected to turn significantly warmer in the coming days.
