Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro, introducing major upgrades in cameras, battery life, performance, and display technology. The new T-series smartphones skip the number 16 and succeed last year’s Xiaomi 15T lineup with premium hardware and AI-powered features.
Xiaomi 17T Gets Major Camera Upgrade
The standard Xiaomi 17T now features a powerful 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a 115mm focal length. This marks a significant improvement over the previous generation’s 2x telephoto lens. Xiaomi says the new camera can also deliver 10x “optical-grade” zoom and tele-macro photography from as close as 30cm.
The phone also includes a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP front-facing selfie shooter. Both the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro use Leica Summilux lenses with optical image stabilization for improved photography and video performance.
Display and Battery Improvements
The Xiaomi 17T features a smaller 6.59-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3,500 nits. The panel supports 12-bit colors, 3,840Hz PWM dimming, and DC dimming for better viewing comfort.
Despite its compact size, the device houses a massive 6,500mAh battery, which is 18% larger than its predecessor. The phone supports 67W HyperCharge and 22.5W reverse charging.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17T Pro comes with a larger 6.83-inch OLED display featuring a 144Hz refresh rate and ultra-dim 1-nit brightness mode. It packs a huge 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
Dimensity 8500 and 9500 Power New Xiaomi Phones
The Xiaomi 17T is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. Xiaomi claims the new processor delivers a 25% GPU performance boost over the previous generation.
The Xiaomi 17T Pro uses the more powerful 3nm Dimensity 9500 processor, offering major improvements in CPU and GPU performance. Both devices also feature Xiaomi’s advanced 3D IceLoop cooling system for better thermal management during gaming and multitasking.
Xiaomi 17T Series Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi 17T starts at €750 for the 12GB + 256GB variant, while the Xiaomi 17T Pro starts at €900. Xiaomi is also bundling promotional offers including Google AI Pro, YouTube Premium, and Spotify Premium trials.
The smartphones are available in multiple color options, including Black, Blue, Violet, and Opal White for the Pro model.
